GREG A. BEDARD, was born in Springfield, raised in Athol, Boca Raton, Fla. and Sudbury, and is the columnist/Patriots analyst, editor and owner of lglyey.com.

Education: Greg graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, where he captained the baseball and golf teams, and was an average basketball player. Greg graduated with a Journalism and Mass Media degree from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, where he spent two seasons in the baseball program and then was an associate sports editor for the independent student newspaper, The Daily Targum.

Career: Seven years after starting from the very bottom of the newspaper business as an agate clerk at The Palm Beach Post, Greg received the break of a lifetime when the Little League team from his area, East Boynton Beach, advanced to the 2003 World Series Championship Game and captured South Florida sports fans in the process. Greg, after covering an NBA Finals and the Florida Marlins, eventually landed on the Miami Dolphins beat in 2004, and was yelled at by Nick Saban enough to be hired as a Packers beat writer for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in 2007. After covering Brett Favre's final season, the Summer of Favre and the beginning of the Aaron Rodgers Era, Greg came "home" to become the Boston Globe's NFL writer in 2010. There will be no higher honor for Greg than to be considered, in the words of Globe sports editor Joe Sullivan, "a direct descendant of Will McDonough." After over three years of earning the respect of Patriots fans, coaches and front office personnel with his tough but fair analysis and grading of the Patriots, Greg became "the first pick" of Sports Illustrated's Peter King when he launched TheMMQB.com in 2013 as a senior NFL writer.

During his career, Bedard has been honored by Editor & Publisher, the Society of Professional Journalists, Associated Press Sports Editors (three different categories: beat writing, enterprise and projects), the Pro Football Writers Association (four times) and Milwaukee Press Club. Greg also regularly appears on 98.5 The Sportshub's Felger & Mazz program, and Comcast Sports New England.

Personal: Greg resides in Medway with his wife, Rita, and twin children, Jason and Priya. His passions include coaching youth softball and baseball, getting beat by his wife (a former professional) on the golf course, playing old-man softball, and attending local college sporting events.

Getting to know Greg

Fondest sports memory growing up: Playing Friday night Dual County League games against rival Acton-Boxborough at Feeley Field in Sudbury.

Sports memory you'd like a mulligan on: Striking out with the bases loaded in a home playoff game as a senior on a high and tight fastball against Burlington (we lost) in 1992.

Favorite Boston sports moment you've witnessed: The stars aligned and I happened to be in Denver to cover a Packers-Broncos Monday night game while the 2007 World Series was going on. Game 4 was Sunday night so I stood outside Coors Field looking for one ticket for four hours. After nearly giving up hope, a nice woman with her kids said they had one as long as I wasn't a Red Sox fan. I lied, got the ticket at face value, and got to see the Sox win it again.

The snapshot moment you love as a reporter: Being on any NFL training camp field about a half hour before a morning practice. The dew, the smell of clean-cut grass, people filing into the stands ... I just love it.

Favorite amateur Boston sports spot: Medway's Cassidy Field any evening during the summer Tondorf all-star baseball tournament. Games all over the place, kids enjoying the game like I remember, Rooney's Snack Shack...it's happiness.

On a rare off day, you'll find me: Shuttling the kids to baseball, softball, hockey, soccer and various other events, and then vegging on the couch with my wife as she catches up on Bravo shows, Teen Mom and Lifetime movies (I don't really watch those. No, no, never, never).
